Detail of the Hubble image of the Extended Groth Strip (EGS). The EGS, named after Princeton University physicist Edward Groth, is a small region in the constellation Ursa Major, based on the results of a series of observations by the Hubble Space Telescope. The Extended Groth Strip is 1.1 degrees long by 0.15 degrees wide (70.5 x 10.1 arcminutes, respectively).
