The Uranus system seen in November 2002 and in August 2007 when the rings appeared edge-on and are therefore not so visible anymore. The image of 2002 was taken with ISAAC on the VLT while the one of 2007 was taken with NACO and made use of adaptive optics. This explains why the 2007 image is much more detailed.
